We are located on the East New Britain Province, a 2 hour flight from Port Moresby. During WW11 Rabaul was occupied by The Japanese who developed it as their Naval Headquarters in The South Pacific. Many war wrecks litter the landscape and surrounding reef system. In 1994 the town was devastated by a volcanic eruption covering the town in ash.
Following the volcanic eruptions of 1994, many wrecks in Rabaul Harbour were covered under tons of ash. This is now clearing in places and diving on some wrecks has resumed conditions and weather permitting. Other wrecks outside the harbour are accessible and the reefs and surrounding islands have been untouched and offer great diving. Many sites are located close to the coastline, in the Bismark Sea, only 15 minutes north of Rabaul.
PNG Visa, travel insurance, PNG Environmental and Safety Fee of AU$ 5 per dive day is payable in Rabaul.
