A sensible itinerary and approach to trekking the war time Kokoda Trail.
Our objective is to ensure every trekker enjoys their trek. Your Australian Trek Leader and PNG Trek Crew provide a meaningful insight to the culture of the people who live in the areas we visit. Back Track trekkers receive accurate and detailed briefings at all the significant war sites along the entire Kokoda Track and enjoy a fun, safe bushwalking experience that is environmentally sensitive.
Your safety and well being throughout is important to us and great care is placed on ensuring we trek safely. We recognise that for most trekkers completing the Track will be a significant mental and physical challenge. Our Trek Leaders will make a big difference in providing a supportive environment.
Our itinerary is arranged so we can meet each days objective at a relaxed pace. We pride ourselves on our pre trip assistance.

Following the Kokoda and Milne Bay Campaigns, our victory on Shaggy Ridge was another major achievement for the Australian forces. On our previous treks we located and identified what happened at many of the most significant campaign locations. On this adventure you are able to stand in the actual trenches, weapons pits, gun emplacements and camp sites of the campaign. There are still many relics of the bitter fighting scattered all along the ridge line and in the jungle.
For the serious trekker you can expect wild challenging trails, many creek and river crossings and magnificent trekking atop the ridge. In many places the ridge line is so narrow that progress can only be made in single file. The scenery and the jungle is beautiful and the views into the surrounding valleys from entire ridge are sensational. Cultural interaction is lively as we meet people in remote villages that seldom see outsiders.
